Hari OM!
As we enter the auspicious 75th year of Chinmaya Mission’s global service, we, the Board of Directors of Chinmaya Mission Portland, offer our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all our members, volunteers, donors, and supporters. Your consistent dedication to Gurudev’s vision and the community around us has been the foundation of our continued growth and service.
This milestone year invites us to reflect on our progress and renew our commitment to seva (selfless service), jnana (knowledge), and bhakti (devotion). We are proud to share that over the past year, with your generous support, we have taken meaningful steps to enhance our facilities and expand our reach:
Shadras Kitchen Upgrades:
A commercial-grade sanitizer was installed to improve both the efficiency and hygiene of our food preparation processes, while also reducing our environmental footprint.
Sustainability Initiatives:
We introduced a washer-dryer unit to encourage the use of reusable table linens—an eco-conscious step aligned with our values of care and responsibility toward Mother Earth.
Infrastructure Improvements:
We replaced the garage door with a beautiful storefront glass window. This not only brightens our footwear area with natural light but also improves insulation and energy efficiency.
In the upcoming summer months, we are excited to embark on further renovations of our kitchen space, with the goal of better serving our growing member base during satsangs, classes, and community events.
In addition to internal improvements, our seva outreach continues to thrive, powered entirely by our devoted volunteers. Chinmaya Mission Portland remains actively engaged with the wider community through:
- Transition center meal services
- Senior citizen gatherings
- ELL (English Language Learner) tutoring programs
- Adopt-a-Roadway cleanups
- Support for the Oregon Food Bank
- Environmental initiatives through OneEarth, including planting drives and neighborhood cleanups
Every effort is a testament to the spirit of karma yoga and reflects the values that Gurudev instilled in all of us. We are deeply humbled by the collective spirit of love and service that unites our mission family. Let us continue to walk together, as torchbearers of Chinmaya Mission’s timeless message:
“To give maximum happiness to the maximum number for the maximum time.”
With reverence and gratitude,
Dr. Kishore Pathial, President
