As Chinmaya Mission worldwide celebrates the sacred milestone of its 75th Anniversary, Amrit Mahotsav, we, the Board of Directors of Chinmaya Mission Portland, offer our deepest gratitude to our members, volunteers, sponsors, and well-wishers. Your unwavering dedication, generosity, and spirit of seva continue to sustain and strengthen our Mission, allowing Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda’s vision to flourish in our community and beyond.<\/p>\n
This year has been one of renewal, growth, learning, and celebration. As we reflect on the many blessings of the past year, we are humbled by the collective effort of our Chinmaya family in nurturing a vibrant center for spiritual study, devotion, service, and fellowship.<\/p>\n

This year marked the beginning of the global Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, commemorating 75 years of Chinmaya Mission’s service to humanity. Across the world, Chinmaya Mission centers joined together in gratitude for Gurudev’s vision and the countless Acharyas, Swaminis, Swamijis, and sevaks who have carried forward his message of self-development and selfless service.<\/p>\n
At Chinmaya Haridwar, we were blessed to participate in this historic celebration through special satsangs, devotional programs, and spiritual gatherings. A highlight of the year was the Hanuman Havan, conducted by our Chinmaya priests during the visit of Pujya Swami Ishwaranandaji, Board member, Chinmaya Mission West. This sacred offering was beautifully woven together with devotion, seva, and grace, creating a deeply uplifting and blissful atmosphere for all in attendance. With the participation of numerous yajmans and devotees, the havan became a powerful expression of collective prayer, faith, and gratitude, reinforcing the spirit of unity that lies at the heart of our Mission.<\/p>\n
Throughout the year, our community continued to benefit from the visits of revered acharyas, Swaminis, and Swamijis whose teachings enriched our understanding of Vedanta and inspired us in our spiritual journey. Among the many blessings of the year was the visit of Pujya Swami Swaroopanandaji last summer, whose inspiring discourse series, Pathways to Divine Connection, explored the nine forms of devotion (Navadha Bhakti). Through his profound yet practical teachings, seekers were guided toward cultivating a deeper relationship with the Divine in everyday life.<\/p>\n
Along with other visiting teachers who shared their wisdom through yajnas, satsangs, and scriptural discourses, these visits left a lasting impression on our community and strengthened our commitment to spiritual growth and self-transformation.<\/p>\n
With the support of countless volunteers and donors, we completed a major remodel of the Shadras kitchen, creating a more efficient and functional space to serve our growing congregation during satsangs, classes, festivals, and community events. The renovation represents an investment in the future of our Mission and our ability to host larger programs and gatherings for years to come.<\/p>\n
In addition, the kitchen and footwear areas received refreshed flooring with a durable polyurethane finish, improving both appearance and longevity.<\/p>\n
This year also saw continued efforts to enhance and beautify our campus grounds. Families came together to plant trees, shrubs, and herbs around the building, enriching the natural beauty of Chinmaya Haridwar while helping create a more peaceful environment and reducing highway noise. Particularly heartwarming was the enthusiastic participation of our Bala Vihar children, who eagerly helped dig, plant, and nurture the new greenery with 75 new plantings around Haridwar. Their involvement transformed the project into a valuable lesson in environmental stewardship, teamwork, and gratitude toward Mother Earth, reflecting the values we strive to instill in future generations.<\/p>\n
These improvements, both inside and outside our facilities, help create a welcoming and uplifting environment where seekers of all ages can gather for worship, learning, fellowship, and service.<\/p>\n
Our Bala Vihar, study groups, bhajan programs, language classes, and satsangs continue to thrive, providing opportunities for spiritual growth and fellowship for seekers of all ages. Through these programs, we remain committed to nurturing the next generation while deepening our own understanding of Vedantic wisdom.<\/p>\n
Our outreach initiatives remain a vibrant expression of karma yoga and compassionate service. Through the dedication of our volunteers, Chinmaya Mission Portland continues to serve the wider community through:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Transition Center meal services
\n\u2022 Senior citizen gatherings
\n\u2022 English Language Learner (ELL) tutoring programs
\n\u2022 Adopt-A-Roadway cleanups
\n\u2022 Support for the Oregon Food Bank
\n\u2022 OneEarth environmental initiatives, including planting drives and neighborhood cleanups
\n\u2022 Community outreach and service projects benefiting those in need<\/p>\n
Each of these efforts reflects Gurudev’s timeless teaching that spirituality must find expression in selfless service. Whether through learning, worship, environmental stewardship, or community outreach, we continue to strive toward the Mission’s guiding ideal:<\/p>\n
