Charity is an attempt wherein I try to expand and bring into the ambit of my life, all others around me and grow to consider the other man’s needs and requirements as important as my own personal needs. To live seeking an identity thus, with at least those who are immediately around me, is to live away from the suffocating selfishness and the throttling grip of my body-consciousness.
– Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda

CORDUSA, in collaboration with Chinmaya Mission Portland, organizes various volunteering programs throughout the year. One of these programs involves volunteering at the Oregon Food Bank (OFB).

We are excited to announce a forthcoming visit to the Oregon Food Bank for a volunteering opportunity. Since OFB is an operational facility, participation is limited to adults and children aged 10 and above. Children must demonstrate good behavior and closely follow instructions. For participants under 18, a signed youth consent form is required, which will be emailed to you upon registration.

If you would like to make a monetary contribution to support OFB, please make checks payable to “CORDUSA” and hand them to Ravi Ananthan. Alternatively, you can use the donation button provided below. After completing the donation, you will be redirected back to this page.

CORDUSA will combine the donated funds with any corporate matching contributions before forwarding them to OFB.

    Safety Guidelines:

    1. We will be repackaging perishable or frozen food donations into family-sized portions for individuals in need across Oregon. The temperature in this area is typically around 50 degrees Fahrenheit. We recommend dressing in layers to ensure comfort during the volunteering activity.

    2. You will be turned away if you are wearing improper foot wear or clothing. Shoes must have closed toes and heels (no sandals, clogs, mules or high heels). Shirts with sleeves are required. Tank tops are not allowed.

    3. Remove and secure jewelry/watches prior to shift. Lockers are available for personal items, but are unsecured. Please leave valuables at home or lock in your car.

    4. Volunteers under 16 years old are required to volunteer with an adult chaperone and must have signed youth consent form with them. (Minimum age for chaperones is 18)

    5. If you have cold symptoms or open wounds, you will not be permitted to work.

    6. Please note that each participant has to register separately.

PLEASE NOTE: As mentioned above, all our volunteering events are exclusively reserved for our annual sponsors. Are you a current sponsor? *
