Editor’s Letter – Soundharya Nagasubramanian

Prologue

Soundharya Nagasubramanian

As we bring this year’s Hari Patrika to completion, my heart is filled with deep gratitude for the collective spirit that makes our community so special. Every contribution in this edition reflects the theme of spirituality, seva, and inclusion that defines who we are.

From thoughtprovoking explorations of Vedanta to heartfelt reflections on hosting our Acharyas, and from celebrations of our festivals to personal stories that illuminate our shared journey, this year’s edition stands as both inspiring and informative. Each article is a testament to the devotion, curiosity, and unity that continue to strengthen our community year after year.

We are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Chinmaya Movement started by Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda, with Amritotsav. This special year has brought
many blessings to the Chinmaya Haridwar community in the form of jnana yagnas from
the Acharyas -starting from Swami Swaroopanandaji followed by Ishwaranandaji,
Shubhaniji and Vivekji .

Our Bala Vihar graduates have shared thoughtful and inspiring messages with the younger classes and their peers, while reflections from our adult study groups beautifully capture the depth of engagement and spiritual growth nurtured at Chinmaya Haridwar. This year was also my first as a Bala Vihar teacher, and I cherished every moment with my enthusiastic 1stgrade class as we journeyed through the story of the Bala Ramayan. Their curiosity and joy made the experience truly memorable.

The spirit of Seva continues to pervade the community with homeless shelter cooking continuing through the year with involvement from kids and volunteers. Prthvi Seva Sang continued their journey towards supporting zero waste homes through the expanded Recycling program and tree planting continued through the year. Many other activities such as English Language Lessons, Adopt a road also provide evidence to the Seva spirit. This spirit supports children and families, helping them come together
despite social and economic challenges.

As I reflect on the pages we have brought together this year, I am deeply moved by the richness of thought, the sense of spiritual unity, and the unwavering spirit of seva that shine through every contribution. The spirit of togetherness is evident in each initiative, reminding us that the Chinmaya Haridwar family is not simply a gathering of individuals, but a true sanctuary for growth, learning, and mutual support.

With blessings from Madhur Krishna and our Gurus, I wish that Haridwar continues its tradition of spiritual education, seva and inclusion.

Hari OM
