ASIO Seniors and Chinmaya Mission Haridwar: A Decade of Support and Service – Prabhakar Sadachapakkam
For over ten years, Chinmaya Mission Haridwar has generously opened its doors to the Association of Seniors of Indian Origin (ASIO), providing a welcoming venue for weekly senior gatherings from April through October. This selfless support has enabled seniors to come together regularly, fostering friendship, companionship, and a strong sense of community.
Every Wednesday, members eagerly look forward to these meetings as an opportunity to meet, greet, share experiences, and strengthen social bonds. The Mission’s facilities have also hosted festive celebrations such as Diwali and Holi, bringing joy, cultural connection, and cherished memories to many seniors.
A significant recent initiative is the introduction of the Sahayana Volunteer Group in April 2026. Through their dedicated service, volunteers provide free transportation to seniors who would otherwise be unable to attend the weekly gatherings. Their generosity of time and effort has made regular participation possible for many and has greatly enhanced the quality of life of the beneficiaries.
These activities have helped reduce social isolation, promoted emotional well-being, encouraged active engagement, and strengthened community spirit among seniors. ASIO members remain deeply grateful to Chinmaya Mission Haridwar and the Sahayana volunteers for their unwavering support and compassion.
